Valley Repair on Shingle Roofs in Sumava Resorts, IN

A valley is where two roof slopes meet in an inside corner. It carries the water from both slopes, so it wears faster than any other part of a shingle roof. Leaves and pine needles settle there too, and hold moisture against the shingles.

Shingle valleys are built three main ways: open (with metal exposed down the middle), closed-cut (one side's shingles run across and the other side is cut along a chalk line), or woven. Each fails differently. Open valleys rust or the metal lifts. Closed-cut valleys leak when the cut line was set too close to the center or the cut shingles were nailed too near the valley.

Sumava Resorts, IN Shingle Roof Repair helps homeowners in Sumava Resorts, IN find shingle roofing contractors for valley repair:

• Removing shingles a few feet on each side of the valley
• Installing ice and water shield down the full length
• Adding new valley metal for open valleys
• Re-shingling with nails kept at least 6 inches from the centerline

If a ceiling stain sits below where two roof lines meet, the valley is the likely source.
